Welcome to Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Our class teacher is Mr. Brewin and we are supported by Miss P during lessons. Have a look at our 'Class News' page to see what we've been up to in school.

You can contact the Year 6 team through our class email: year6@woodstone.leics.sch.uk

Please feel free to contact us with any queries or questions!

 Reading
At Woodstone, we believe that reading skills underpin all aspects of education. So it is important that children read at home to a parent or sibling 4 times a week for 10 minutes, discussing the book with your child can help to develop their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Please remember to sign their reading diaries as only signed entries will be counted towards your child's weekly reads. The weeks top readers will receive extra dojo points for their efforts!

Times Table Rockstars
At Woodstone, we try to provide children with every opportunity to learn and grow. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun, engaging learning resource to help children develop their multiplication skills. Like reading, it is important that children play TTRS at home. Playing this game will not only develop times table skills, but also help to boost children's confidence during maths lessons.
We ask that Year 6 children play for 20 minutes a week. If the weekly sessions aren't completed, children will make up their practice during lunch time. The weeks top rock stars will receive dojo points for their efforts!

P.E
This half-term, we will have indoor P.E. on Monday afternoons and outdoor P.E. with a sports coach on Wednesday mornings. Please ensure that your child has both their indoor and outdoor P.E. kit with them each week, as lessons can change at short notice due to weather conditions.

Homework
Homework is set every Friday and should be handed in on or before the following Thursday, ready for new homework to be handed out.
I also offer a voluntary maths challenge worksheet which contains more reasoning and problem solving questions for those children who like a challenge.
