Welcome to Maple Class (Year 2)
Our class teacher is Miss Armston and we are supported by Mrs Copley and Miss Davies.
Please have a look at our curriculum map to see what we will be learning!
Homework will be sent home every Friday and is due in the following Friday, when we will go through the answers and mark it in class together. A Dojo Point will be awarded each week for homework completed on time.
We also ask that children read at home at least 5 times per week and record this in their reading diaries. Children will be awarded 3 Dojo Points each week that they read 5 or more times at home.
Year 2 children have the opportunity to change their library books on a Monday so please ensure your child's library book is in their book bag on this day.
Monster Phonics books are changed by staff once each week, but children are responsible for changing their own Share Books after they have done a Group Guided Read. They are also welcome to change them any time during the week in ERIC sessions.
Please also ensure PE kits are in school all week, with both indoor and outdoor kit, to allow for any timetable changes.
Please ensure ALL of your child's belongings are named - there have been an increasing number of unnamed jumpers, cardigans, hats/scarves/gloves recently which can make it tricky to return items to their rightful owners. Thank you.
If you have any queries you can contact the Year 2 team using our class email:

PE
Our PE lessons will be on Thursday afternoons this half-term and will focus on Dance. Children will primarily need their indoor kit for these sessions, but we also ask for outdoor PE kits to be in school so that we are ready for timetable or weather changes should they occur. Please ensure all items are clearly named. Children will need to remove their earrings for all PE lessons (including swimming) - unfortunately, we cannot assist with this.
Forest School
Our Forest School sessions will be on Tuesday afternoons during Spring 2. Please ensure your child brings their Forest School kit on these days - unfortunately we do not have the cloakroom space for these to stay in school all week. Please ensure your child has warm, waterproof clothing for the forest so we are ready for the Great British Weather! Wellies should be kept in school so we are ready for any additional outdoor learning. Please ensure ALL belongings are named.
